Tadmarton Heath Golf Club

2011 Club Captain Robert Jones driving into office on January 1st

It is a great honour to be Captain in 2011 of a Club that I have been a member of for the past 35 years. Both my parents were also members, my son was one of the first junior members and my son-in-law made me very proud last year in winning the “Beaumont Pease Trophy”.
The Club, I know, will follow with great interest the progress of two of Tadmarton’s distinguished honorary members - Gary Boyd (European Tour) and Carl Mason (Seniors Tour) along with our leading lady amateur member Katharine O’Connor now an established Welsh international. Our lowest handicap male member, Liam Robinson, turns professional this spring to play on the Euro Pro Tour.
Guy Sambrook, our scratch foursome’s captain and current Club Champion, tells me that the competition for places in the Club’s flagship scratch team increases each year. The Club has also entered teams in the “Mail on Sunday” and “Hillman Trophy” competitions so there should be no shortage of opportunity to represent the Club this year.
I am very pleased that the Club continues to invest in making further improvements to both the course and practice areas under the expert and devoted attention of Alistair Rathbone and Brian Owen. We have, over the last 89 years, developed a wonderful facility which is the envy of many Clubs we play against. In September the Club, under the guidance of Barbara Round, will host the first national competition for Fathers and Daughters which will further widen and enhance the profile of the club.
Our very enthusiastic professional John Stubbs together with his assistants Rob and Dave have put in place excellent coaching programmes for members, non members and juniors - I do hope this encourages, in particular, more new lady and junior members to join us this year. Your support in achieving this objective will be greatly appreciated.
Please note "a date for your diary" - The Katharine House Hospice Charity Day is on Tuesday 28th June.
May I wish you all a successful and enjoyable year.
