Competitions

For those with a competitive streak

Tadmarton offers competitions galore. Medals, stablefords, foursomes, greensomes, match play, scratch play . . . you name it and you will be able to find it at some point during the year.

Tadmarton men currently compete in the Oxfordshire Foursomes League first division, while the women play in the Oxfordshire Silver, Mid-Silver and Bronze Leagues. There are also friendly fixtures – mens, womens and mixed – against clubs from around the region both home and away.

Open competitions include the Beaumont Pease, a 36-hole medal that attracts leading amateur players from around the region and is a BB&O ranking event. The inaugural Fathers & Daughters Foursomes medal was first staged in 2011 attracting a national field of 92 players.

In all, we have 8 Opens that provide an excellent day out for players of all ages and abilities.

Men

Whether you have a serious competitive streak or prefer a more casual approach to golf Tadmarton fits the bill.

The men’s section holds a number of prestigious competitions throughout the summer months, is a member of the scratch Oxfordshire Foursomes League and plays regular friendly matches against clubs of note including Woburn, Copt Heath and The Oxfordshire.

A Thursday afternoon stableford also takes place during the summer enabling anyone to turn up and have a competitive game.

Since there are no pre-booked tee times at Tadmarton (major competitions being the exception) golf is available as and when you want it. The free-draining nature of the course means it is almost always open for play.

For older players, a thriving seniors’ section meets on most days during the week and new members are always made welcome. These roll-ups can have a competitive edge but walking and talking are just as important.

Ladies

Friendly and good fun sums up the ladies section at Tadmarton Heath.

Competitive golf is available in abundance but if a carefree round is your preference then that is an option too.

Weekly competitions are held on Thursday and Saturday mornings with 10-hole Tuesday roll-ups organised during the winter months.

The Ladies play in the Oxfordshire Silver League and the Oxfordshire Bronze League while a number of friendly matches are held, home and away, against a variety of clubs including Stratford-on-Avon, Broadway, Kenilworth, Henley and Blackwell.

Handicaps range from +1 to 54 and Taddy is well suited to ladies at 5525 yards, requiring straight-hitting and finesse around the greens.

An increasing number of members also play bridge at the club during the week, especially in the winter months.

The section has prepared a welcome document which contains everything a new lady golfer joining Tadmarton needs to know – please open it by clicking below

Juniors

Dedicated competitions, free practice range balls and regular weekend coaching are just some of the things that Tadmarton is doing to encourage more youngsters to take up golf.

Notable graduates from our junior section include Welsh international Katherine O’Connor, Oxfordshire county champion Sam Round and former course record holder Andrew Mason. We welcome any youngsters, aged six and above, to come and have a go. We will supply the clubs, the balls and the expertise if they provide the energy and enthusiasm.

Once players master the basic skills there are twice-monthly junior competitions to enter and matchplay fixtures against other sections of the club. With a handicap allowance of up to 54 shots it means that everyone can compete. The more talented players are also given the opportunity to attend county coaching from a young age.
